This event is open to the public and sponsored by the Junior League of Asheville in partnership with the University of North Carolina Asheville and Braver Angels.
It is free to attend for all! Students under 18 years of age who can respectfully participate in group discussion are welcome to attend.

We risk fueling the fire that threatens our country by how we talk about people who hold different political views.
Want to understand how to talk differently?
Why: Because we need to find a solution to our nation’s big problems – we cannot do that if we see the “other side” as enemies or strangers. There is a lot of stress these days among families and friends who are divided politically.
Process: Learn what is involved in developing attitudes, words, and using ways to talk with folks on the “other” side with whom we share a national past and future.
Goals: Discover how to be more aware of your own “inner polarizations”; learn how to be critical without demonizing, dismissing, or stereotyping; understand how to handle political and social conversations with peers when these conversations turn to contempt or ridicule for people with different views.
